Design standards

Range of design standards on the different aspects of a school building design. Some are legal standards, some ministry requirements and some are best practice. For example, standards on fencing, fire safety design, lifts in school buildings, toilets and weathertightness design are legal requirements; ministry requirements include but not exclusively flexible learning spaces, acoustics, air quality, accessibility for people with special needs, light and so on; best practice standards include acoustics, air quality, bathrooms, floor coverings, learning spaces, shade and so on. Some are mandatory, some are best practice.

Structural and Geotechnical Guidelines for School Design Version 1 for General Issue
